BlueJay Ecology
Reshaping Tomorrow’s Landscapes, Today.
BlueJay Ecology is an independent ecological consultancy based in Hampshire. Our team of highly experienced ecologists work on a range of projects across the UK.
These range from single property developments to large scale infrastructure schemes, with regular clients including housing developers, forestry contractors, architects, and planning consultants.
We frequently conduct ecological work in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. Although most of our work is based in these regions, we do offer services beyond these counties.
Our team has a wealth of knowledge crossing multiple disciplines.
Our staff have CIEEM accreditation, CSCS cards, Critical Medical and various Natural England licences between them.
We can take projects from their inception, all the way through to the implementation stages.
Our company is conscious of the environment and is proactively thinking of ways we can act more sustainably on our projects.
Testimonials
“Tilhill Forestry is proud to have worked with Bluejay Ecology for over three years with their professional and pragmatic input at Havant Thicket being a key stage in our £3m site clearance works for Portsmouth Water.
Their ability to provide immediate help as operations and seasonal constraints changed almost weekly, enabled us to continue with programme-critical works on one of the most challenging and regionally important engineering projects to construct the first large scale reservoir in over 30 years.“

(Uptons Tree Services)
“BlueJay ecology is a fantastic company we use for all our ecology needs from nesting bird surveys to bat and dormouse surveys and licences. Any questions or concerns I go to them with they come back to me in a timely manner and go above and beyond to provide me with information on the matter. I would highly recommend this company and will continue working with them for the foreseeable.”
“RAC Forestry Ltd are engaged in mainly mechanised forestry operations, vegetation management and site clearance on a wide range of sites across southern England. As part of this work we inevitably need input from ecologists from time to time. Having worked alongside BlueJay Ecologists when they were employed by the main contractor on two sites we have since used them directly on our own contracts and found them to be thorough and professional in carrying out the tasks required.”
Rachel Hoyes
(Test Valley Council)
“We approached BlueJay Ecology because the Countryside Team at Test Valley Borough Council wanted a better understanding of how badgers are using our nature reserves. Suzie from BlueJay provided staff with a morning of on-site training on badger ecology, including signs of their presence, habits, and behaviour, as well as covering planning law and monitoring methods. The training was informative, engaging, and perfectly suited to our needs as Countryside Officers for monitoring badger activity on our sites. I would not hesitate to use BlueJay Ecology’s services again.“
